Machado Meyer Advogados has helped Brazilian aluminium and plastics company IBRAP with its acquisition of door and window manufacturer Claris.

The seller, hardware company Tigre Tubos e Conexões, was also advised by Machado Meyer. The deal closed on 30 April, with no value disclosed.

Claris’ headquarters are in Indaiatuba, in the state of São Paulo, where their PVC frames are manufactured.

Tigre Tubos e Conexões Brasil is part of Grupo Tigre, a Brazilian producer of construction materials based in the state of Santa Catarina. They have nine factories in Brazil, and 12 spread across the US, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

IBRAP sells its aluminium and plastic products mainly within the domestic market and is also based in the southern state of Santa Catarina.

Brazil has the second-largest manufacturing sector in Latin America after Mexico. It accounts for 20.7% of the country’s GDP, according to 2017 estimates.
